Zermatt is a village and municipality, one of the most famous ski resorts in Switzerland, in the south of the canton of Valais, almost on the border with Italy. The village is surrounded by most of the four-thousandth peaks of the Pennine Alps, such as the highest peak in Switzerland, the Dufour Peak (4,634 m) in the Monte Rosa massif and the Matterhorn (4,478 m), on the northern slope of which the village is located at an altitude of 1,608 meters.
