Webcam Baleal. Coast
Baleal is a small former island, now a peninsula near Peniche, and somewhere in the middle between Lisbon and Leiria. It gets its name from the fact that it was one of the last whaling grounds (balea means whale, in Portuguese).
It is a favorite place for surfers, as the location of the peninsula contributes to the creation of excellent waves for training. It is no coincidence that the world's first surf school Surf Camp was founded here in 1993.
All local cliffs are built with small houses for accommodation, restaurants, etc. On the coast, there are more than 20 surf spots for every level of riding. In the winter, there are crazy waves and competitions of all kinds, and in the summer is the best work for instructors, the waves are small and just for training.
