Dusseldorf Airport is the third largest airport in Germany and the main transport hub of North Rhine — Westphalia, with an annual passenger traffic of over 20 million people. In this indicator, in Germany, it is second only to the airports of Frankfurt am Main and Munich. Dusseldorf Airport, located seven kilometers north of the city center, serves one of the largest agglomerations in the world — the Rhine-Ruhr, which also includes the cities of Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, Bochum, Duisburg and others. The airport is a hub for two major German airlines — Air Berlin and Lufthansa; it is also actively used by Turkish Airlines. From Russian carriers, flights to Dusseldorf are operated by Aeroflot, Rossiya, and seasonally by S7 Airlines and OrenAir.
