Redcliffe Webcam - Woody Point Waterfront Viewing Camera
About the Woody Point Waterfront Lookout Webcam in Redcliff
In 1799 Matthew Flinders landed on the peninsula and named the place Red Cliff, after the flowers in the rocks. In 1823 the peninsula was chosen as the site of Queensland's first penal colony, but by 1825 the prisoners had been moved further up the Brisbane River to avoid mosquitoes and local Aboriginal resistance.
Redcliffe was once a small seaside town 40 km north of Brisbane. Apex Park & Bicentennial Park Woody Point was built by reclaiming land along the coast in the 1970s. Listed monuments at Woody Point, including the Woody -Poin Memorial Hall along the Hornibrook Esplanade are now considered some of the main attractions. This view camera on the Woody Point waterfront is a great way to see the site in real time.
It is available to anyone with an Internet connection. Ongoing renovations in the area include high-rise apartment buildings overlooking Bramble Bay, Moreton Bay, Port Brisbane and Ted Smoot Highway. Until recently, restaurants and cafes were represented in very limited numbers in the suburbs, but the waterfront now boasts some of the most highly rated and recognized restaurants on the Redcliffe Peninsula, including The Steak & Crabhouse & Masala Point Cafe.
The closest shopping center is Margate Village, about 2 km north, or Bayside Plaza in Clontarf, about 3 km southwest. Woody Point accommodates localized convenience retail, a corner store, a medical clinic and pharmacy, and an Australian Post branch within Woody Point Village.
