Akademik Kirensky street is located in the Oktyabrsky district of Krasnoyarsk.
On May 5, 1970 the street was renamed in honor of Kirensky Leonid Vasilyevich (10.04.1909, village Amga, Yakut ASSR - 3.11.1969, Krasnoyarsk), Soviet physicist, who became the first of Krasnoyarsk Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1968.
The street originates in a beautiful forest area, near Akademgorodok. Turning north, the street passes through Student town, where the largest building of the Siberian Federal University - Polytechnic Institute is located, and bypassing the area Nikolaevka, where an integrated development of built-up areas, the street ends near City Hall. The length of Akademika Kirenskogo street is 4.5 kilometers.
Almost all along the street is not wide, in some places three-lane, busy roadway, absolutely does not meet today's requirements of the million-strong city.
One of the largest houses in Krasnoyarsk (1,200 apartments), the Gremyachiy Log apartment complex, is located on Akademika Kirenskogo Street.
