Yamba is a town in northern New South Wales, Australia, at the mouth of the Clarence River. The first European to visit the area was Matthew Flinders, who stayed in Yamba Bay for six days in July 1799.
The town's economy is based on fishing and tourism, but also has the influence of the Sea Change phenomenon and the large number of baby boomers who are beginning to retire to warmer climates.
In the 2016 census, Yamba had a population of 6,043, but as a popular tourist destination it could triple its population during the holiday season. In 2009, Australian Traveler Magazine named Yamba the number 1 city in Australia.
