Volzhsky is a city of regional subordination, located 28.7 km from Volgograd. It occupies an area of 14493 hectares (including Krasnooktyabrsky, Rabochy, and Zeleny settlements). The territory of the city is divided into 42 neighborhoods, 30 blocks with a numerical numbering and 6 blocks with a lettering numbering.
Volzhskiy ranks second in the oblast in population size, production output, retail turnover, volume of capital investments, contract works, sales volume of paid and personal services to the population. The city has 581 registered industrial enterprises. The total number of registered enterprises of different forms of ownership is more than 3 thousand.
