Velikie Luki is a city in the Pskov Oblast in Northwest Russia. It spreads along the banks of the Lovat River, 313 kilometers southeast of the regional center. It consists of several districts. In 2015, the city had 95.6 thousand residents.
Druzhba Street is located in the northern part of the city. It starts from Vagonnaya Street, goes westward, crosses with Turgenev Avenue, Glinka Street, Gogol Street, Station Street, Peskarev Street, Diakonov Street and ends at the intersection with Murmanskaya Street in the area of sewage treatment plants.
Druzhba street was formed in the second half of the 1970s on the territory of the new Northern Neighborhood. According to some information, the street was named in honor of the Soviet-Polish friendship, because at the time of the microdistrict development there was a temporary settlement of builders from the Polish People's Republic.
Initially the street went from east to west only to Station street. In the early 1990s, an automobile road was built to connect Druzhba street with Dyakonov street. Later, Druzhba Street was extended westward to Murmanskaya Street.
