Webcam Tulun. Lenin Street, post office (Irkutsk region)

Tulun is a beautiful Siberian town, surrounded by dozens of lakes and forests, the "leather bag" or "coal heart" of the Irkutsk region.

It is stretched out and at the same time squeezed from all sides by deposits of coal, for which it got its name. From the Buryat dialect its name exactly translates as "leather sack". But the word sack does not at all mean tightness or stuffiness. It is worth diving into history to understand and become a part of the good town.

The city was formed in a bend of the river Iya, the exact date, unfortunately, is unknown, but the first settlement existed in the 18th century. Invisible and simple, Tulunovskoye village, due to its favorable location on the Moscow, Bratsk and Ikey tracts, quickly began to grow into a shopping center, and by the middle of the 19th century, overtook the development of the "old" Nizhneudinsk.

Thanks to the Trans-Siberian railway, which ran through the entire length of the city, industry grew, and by 1929 Tulun and Tulun district were already part of the Irkutsk district. And the modern railway station welcomes all visitors in a friendly way.
