Masatlan is the second largest city in the state of Sinaloa, founded in the 16th century. Because of its beautiful nature, clean beaches and warm climate, it is often called the "Pearl of the Pacific". For the same reason, Masatlan became one of the major seaside resorts of Mexico. Already in the mid-19th century there appeared hotels, and foreigners began to arrive. Migrants from Bavaria played an important role, which left a mark on the local traditions: they love beer, and Bavarian motifs can be clearly seen in folklore.
Masatlan has always been known for its democratic prices, which is why it is so popular to this day. Tourists from all over the world come here to fish and relax on the luxurious beaches, most of all Americans and Mexicans.
