For more than a century of existence the park has gathered a unique dendrological collection. It counts 240 plant species, of which 50 species are of particular value.
On the territory of the park with a total area of 14.27 hectares there are more than 10,000 trees and shrubs. Most of the plants are evergreens. Many bloom in winter, which makes the park attractive at any time of year.
The park was founded in 1898 by a descendant of the merchant dynasty, Vasily Alekseevich Khludov.
Before the establishment of Soviet power in Sochi, the park was called Khludovsky. In 1920 it was transferred under the authority of the Sochi Resort Board and up to 1937 was called "Kurupp Park". Since 1937 it was called "Riviera".
In 2006, the park was registered as the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Park of Culture and Recreation "Riviera" of the city of Sochi.
