Algaida is located in the southwest of Central Mallorca. The town gives its name to the municipality; it is located 26,3 km from Palma and 27 km from the town of Manacor. Nearby are the towns of Montuiri, Santa Eugenia and Llucmajor. The population is about 5400 inhabitants. The municipality of Algaida consists of three urban centers: Algaida, Pina and Randa.
Algaida is a cozy town inside the island, preserving the character of yesteryear. City life is centered around its main square, known as Sa Plaça: here are the main stores and restaurants. Algaida used to be famous for its varied agricultural activities, as evidenced by the numerous mills in the area. The small Puig de Randa mountain in the vicinity of the town stands out and offers beautiful views from the top.
