Rota is a resort town in the south of Spain in hot Andalusia. This place is especially popular among the Spaniards themselves, who often come there just to relax for the weekend. At the same time it is one of the most protected areas of the country, as there is a large naval base near the city.
Rota is a small old town of just under 30,000 people. This place is ideal for hiking, due to the fact that all the remarkable historical sites, which may be of interest to the inquisitive traveler, are located quite compactly, at a short distance from each other. The most famous are the Castillo de Luna Palace and the Nuestra Señora de la Expectación church.
Not far from the city there are two National Parks - Park of the Gulf of Cadiz and Doñana National Park, which is home to a fairly rare species of mammals - the Pyrenean (Spanish) lynx. In addition, thanks to the good transport links from Rota, you can easily reach neighboring Jerez and Seville.
