Buzuluk is one of the oldest cities in the Orenburg region, spread out on the Samara River, not far from where the Buzuluk River flows into it.
In 1736 the Orenburg expedition on the river Samara, on the ruins of an ancient settlement was founded Buzuluk fortress, which in 1781 received the status of the city. Buzuluk often found itself in the epicenter of important historical events. The city was visited by the Pugachevites, during the Civil War - Ataman Dutov with his army, the advanced detachments of Kolchak. The famous Chapayev division swore allegiance to the country.
According to local historians, in 1833 Alexander Pushkin stayed in Buzuluk.
