Yelizovo is a small town and an administrative center in Yelizovsky district of Kamchatka region, located on the banks of the river Avacha on the Kamchatka Peninsula, 32 km west of Petropavlovsk. The climate here is more severe than in Petropavlovsk, as the city is remote from the ocean.
In summer the temperature often rises above +30°, and winter is harsher than in the regional center. Near the town is Mount Moroznaya, a popular ski center in Kamchatka, where members of the Russian national alpine skiing team train.
The mountain offers a panoramic view of the city and the volcanoes Koryaksky and Avachinsky. The ski center "Mount Moroznaya" has 5 ski slopes, 3 elevators, rental stations, cafe-bar "Na Moroznaya", the skiing season here lasts from December to April.
