Astrakhan, which connects the two arms of the Volga - Kutum and Tsarev.
Together with these arms and the Volga itself, the canal bounds the nameless island on which the most central part of the city is located. The canal begins in the historical district Bolshiye Isady, passes by the White City, Makhallya and other "ethnic" slobodas and Admiralteyskaya Spit, and ends near the Elling.

From the Kutum to the Customs Bridge along the canal on both sides is the May 1 embankment, and further southwest to Tsarev - the embankment of the Privolzhsky creek. The eastern half of the canal bank is mainly built up with pre-revolutionary merchant houses.

Church of St. Prince Vladimir is an Orthodox church in Astrakhan, one of the hallmarks of the city. It belongs to the Astrakhan diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church and has the status of a bishop's palace. In 1924-1936 it was the cathedral of the diocese.

The church was built in 1895-1902 by the St. Petersburg civil engineers Vasily Kosyakov and Nikolay Ikavits, whose project was recognized by a commission of the Astrakhan City Duma as the most worthy. Prince Vladimir's Temple is unique in its architecture for the late 19th century, its history, and its purpose for Astrakhan itself.
