Webcam Biysk. Communal bridge, the Biya River (Altai Territory) online
Kommunalny Bridge is an arch bridge across the river Biysk, connecting the right bank and left bank parts of the city.
The bridge was opened in 1965 and connected Kommunarskiy lane on the right bank and Shishkov Street - on the left bank of the river Biya. Communal bridge consists of seven spans. The design of the bridge is similar to the communal bridge in Krasnoyarsk, differs from it only in the absence of massive pylons on the supporting beams. The bridge passes over the Chuysky tract.
During the construction of the bridge there were a lot of violations of technology, which led to its premature deterioration.
This also contributed to the exploitation of the streetcar line on the bridge. In 1992 the bridge was closed for unscheduled repairs caused by its emergency condition. Shortage of funds did not allow to carry out the repair work in full.
In the early 2000s the bridge became unsafe again and needed major repair, which started in 2002 and was completed in 2006. During the overhaul the upper structure of the bridge was reconstructed and acquired a modern look, significantly different from the original.
