Latina is a city and resort in Italy, in the Lazio region, on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The population of Latina is 117 thousand people.
The history of Latina is not strikingly long: The city was founded in 1938 by Benito Mussolini. The city was originally called Littoria and it got its present name after the end of World War II.
Most of the buildings in the rationalistic style were designed by the most famous artists and architects of the time: Marcello Piacentini, Angiolo Mazzoni, etc.
Nowadays Latina is a quiet and peaceful town. It has a large national park, wide sandy beach, which can attract fans of nature and recreation at sea, although because of its small age, Latina does not belong to the visited tourist centers: there are no ancient sights, no medieval architecture.
