Kolomna is an ancient city in the Moscow region, the center of the district in the metropolitan area, located 100 kilometers from Moscow. Built in a steep bend at the confluence of the Moscow River with the Oka, the ancient defender of the capital invariably impresses its guests with magnificent monuments of defensive architecture, churches, monasteries, friendliness and livability.
Kolomna is a city spread out on the banks of three rivers and at the crossroads of many land routes. Over the centuries, the rulers of the ancient Russian principalities fought for it, it was ravaged by the Tatars, captured by the Poles, but the city has always been revived. For centuries, Kolomna diligently defended Moscow from attacks by enemies advancing towards it from the southeast, and when it was no longer needed, it thrived thanks to its prime location and the commercial acumen of local merchants.
Old districts of Kolomna still retain a colorful pre-revolutionary atmosphere. On the territory of the Kolomna Kremlin and Posad in wooden houses with carved windows, small estates with mezzanines and apple orchards are still inhabited by citizens.
