Nuestra Senhora del Pilar (Basilica of Our Lady of Pilar) is one of the largest Baroque churches in Spain and the largest temple in Zaragoza. The basilica is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is named after her supposed appearance in these places around 40 AD. It is considered the first shrine in history dedicated to Mary. In the center of the basilica is a column made of jasper, surmounted by a statue of the XV century, depicting Mary with a Baby in her arms.
