In the documents of the XVIII century this small street, which lay beyond the rampart, is mentioned as Zhuravleva. It was also called Pischnaya because of the local gunsmiths. And in 1778, when provincial Yaroslavl received a regular lay-out, it stretched from Semenovskaya Square (nowadays Red Square) to Romanovskaya Zastava. The new name, defined by the plan, turned out to be very promising: in honor of the most privileged class of the Russian Empire the street was called Dvoryanskaya.
At the turn of XIX-XX centuries on Dvoryanskaya street settled not so much noblemen, but rather rich Yaroslavl citizens, trying to outdo each other by the magnificence of their residences. After the revolution, it turned into Grazhdanskaya, and in 1967 - into October Prospect.
