St. Vitus Cathedral (Katedrala svateho Vita, full name: St. Vitus Cathedral Vitus, Wenceslaus and Wojtek) is a Gothic Catholic cathedral in Prague Castle, the seat of the Archbishop of Prague.
The cathedral is considered one of the pearls of European Gothic architecture, is an artistic and national-historical shrine of the Czech Republic. Czech kings and archbishops of Prague are buried in the side chapels of the cathedral, and the coronation regalia of medieval Bohemia are also kept there.
The current cathedral building was built in several stages: 1344-1419, 1490-1510, 1556-1593 and 1873-1929 (the western part). Finally, the construction of the cathedral was completed only at the beginning of the XX century.
The length of the main nave of the cathedral is 124 meters, the height of the Large south Tower is 96.5 meters. On the west side are two 82-meter-high neo-Gothic stone towers with a 10-meter-high round rosetta window between them. The three portals of the cathedral are richly decorated with sculptures, stone and bronze reliefs.
