Bellinzona is the main city of the Swiss canton of Ticino. It is located at the foot of the Alps east of the Ticino River at an altitude of 230 meters above sea level. In the vicinity of Bellinzona there are three castles (Castelgrande, Montebello and Sasso Corbato), included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000, as well as the historical center of the city.
