Nanchang Webcam. Tengwang Pavilion
Tengwang Pavilion is a truly unique and extraordinary place in the Chinese city of Nanchang. Today the structure is the main attraction of the settlement. The construction of the first of the towers dates back to the mid-7th century. It was here, on the banks of the freshwater artery of the Fu River, that this stunning fortification was created. According to a decree of the reigning emperor of the Tang dynasty at the time, the pavilion was erected in memory of a very young prince who died in a tragic accident.
Later, over the course of 1,000 years, most of the elements were subjected to quite complex and extensive reconstructions (a total of 26). Each such "intervention" affected only the materials of which the towers were built: the idea itself, the concept of the architectural ensemble did not suffer, and remained in full conformity with the classical Chinese style.
In 1926 the building was badly damaged by the big fire: restoration works began only in 1989. Where once was located the previous pavilion, erected a large structure of granite: the height of construction is 60 meters. Tenwan consists of 9 tiers, each resting on wooden ceilings, which are carved, polygonal roofs.
For those who want to look inside the structure, there is a special elevator - you can use it to go up to each of the "floors". At weekends and holidays there are various events, often traditional Chinese melodies are played and small theatrical plays and performances are staged. In the evening, numerous lights are switched on around the Pavilion: they make the place look even more solemn, unique and thorough.
