Heusden-Zolder is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg near Hasselt. As of January 1, 2006, Heusden-Zolder had 30,769 inhabitants. The total area is 53.23 km², which gives a population density of 578 people per km².

The city was created by the merger of the two former municipalities of Heusden and Zolder on January 1, 1977, and currently consists of the former parishes of Heusden in Heusden Center, Berkenbosch and Eversel, as well as the former parishes of Zolder Center Zolder, Boekt, Weaversel, Bolderberg and Lindemann.

In the 1960s the Belgian coal mines faced a huge shortage of employees. To solve this problem, foreign workers were encouraged to immigrate and work near the mines. After their closure (the Zolder mine was the last one in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg to close in 1992) most immigrants chose to stay, making Heusden-Zolder a relatively multicultural place.
