Webcam La Villa. The Fanes Mountains
The Fanes Group is a mountain range in the northwestern Dolomite Alps in Italy. It owes its name to the central plateau of Fanes, which is the site of the Ladino legends surrounding the kingdom of Fanes. As part of the Dolomite Alps united by UNESCO in the "Northern Dolomite Alps", the Fanes Group has been part of the "Dolomite Alps World Heritage Site" since June 26, 2009.
The Fanes Group is located to the east of Val Badia. The Enneberger or Rautal, which branches off in a southeasterly direction, forms the northeasterly boundary towards the Dolomite Alps Bryes, which continues at the end of the Rautal on the north side of the Camino group to Campo Croce. Here the border curves southward through Val Travenanzes to the Falzarego Pass The line Falzarego Pass - Livinalongo - Arabba - Campolongo Pass constitutes the southern border of the Fanes Group. The Tofans, which are not included in this definition of the border, are sometimes referred to the Fanes group.
The largest parts of the mountain group are in South Tyrol (the communities of Enneberg, Wengen, Abtey, Corvara and Saint-Martin in Tournai) and are almost entirely protected by the Fanes-Senes-Brajes Nature Park. The eastern and southern parts of the Fanes group are in the province of Belluno (Veneto).
