The city of Pushkin is located 24 kilometers from St. Petersburg. The official date of foundation of the city is June 24, 1710. In June 2010, Tsarskoe Selo (Pushkin) celebrated its 300th anniversary.

Once upon a time there was an estate of a Swedish magnate. The settlement changed hands several times, and only Empress Elizaveta Petrovna made it her summer residence. During its early history, the settlement has changed several names: first it was Sarskaya Moyza (Saari Mois), and then Sarskoe Selo. The name Tsarskoe Selo was assigned to the residence of Russian emperors only by the end of the 18th century.

After the Great October Revolution, Tsarskoe Selo was renamed as Detskoe Selo, since its territory was home to many children's hospitals and sanatoriums for children. And 20 years later the whole country celebrated the centenary of the death of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. That's when, on February 9, 1937, our city was named after the great poet.

The city of Pushkin is famous for its architectural, historical and cultural monuments and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The main tourist attractions in Pushkin are Catherine the Great Park and Catherine the Great Palace with its famous Amber Room, the Tsarskoselsky Lyceum, Alexander Palace in Alexander Park. Other parks of Tsarskoye Selo deserve attention: Nizhny (Separate), Fermsky and Babolovsky. The city celebrations are traditionally held in the Buffer Park.

Among other places of interest of Tsarskoye Selo there are Fedorovsky Gorodok and Fedorovsky Cathedral, Pushkin's Gostiny Dvor, Sofia Cathedral, Reserve (Vladimir) Palace, Pushkin's Dacha Museum (Kitayeva Dacha), Kochubey Mansion, Palace of Princess Paley, and also building of Pushkin's railway station (Detskoye Selo Station). The Cathedral of St. Catherine on the main square of the city was reconstructed for the 300th anniversary of Tsarskoye Selo.

The city of Pushkin is a suburb of St. Petersburg and the center of the Pushkin district of St. Petersburg.
