Bograda Street is located in three districts of Krasnoyarsk: Central, Zheleznodorozhny, and Oktyabrsky.
The first name of this old street is Sadovaya. The name was given by the City Garden, which was once one of the best gardens of the Russian Empire. Back in 1828 on the initiative of the Krasnoyarsk governor Alexander Stepanov a site was identified for construction of a city garden, on the banks of the Yenisei, where a relict pine forest was preserved. The official opening of the garden was held only in 1882.
The street originated from Dubensky lane (nowadays Paris Commune street), went along the Yenisei through the city park and ended at Platz-Parade square. And when in the end of the XIX century on the western outskirts of Krasnoyarsk, beyond the railroad line, a workers' settlement appeared - Nikolayevskaya Sloboda - the street was extended along the spontaneously built-up sloboda.
The street was built mainly with wooden houses. Only in 1897 by order of the Kansk petty bourgeois S. M. Kovsky a three-story stone apartment building with small apartments was built. This house, located at 92 Bograda St., is preserved to this day.
During the years of Soviet power in Krasnoyarsk a special commission on naming and renaming the intracity facilities with the purpose to rename all the streets and squares in the city in a revolutionary spirit. Thus in 1921 Sadovaya street was renamed in honor of the revolutionary Yakov Efimovich Bograd (1878 - 1919).
Since the end of the 1950s Bograda Street was radically reconstructed. In the center were demolished all the wooden buildings, not monuments of architecture, with the exception of house number 106, built in 1908-1909. In 1959 the first five-storey houses were built on the street.
On October 17, 1961 streetcar traffic was opened on the Communal bridge. A streetcar station was organized on Bograda Street near the Opera and Ballet Theater. In 1994, streetcar traffic from the left bank to the right bank was closed, and the rails were dismantled.
