Webcam Cherepovets. Archangel Bridge on the Sheksna River (Vologda region).
Archangel Bridge - cable-stayed highway bridge across the Sheksna River in Cherepovets, which will connect Zayagorbsky (Zarechensky) and Zasheksninsky districts. The bridge will complete the creation of the Cherepovets transport ring, which should connect four large neighborhoods, and provide conditions for a ring traffic of public transport. The construction of the second bridge across Sheksna, in addition to Oktyabrsky, in the alignment of Arkhangelskaya Street will create a redundant route, redistribute traffic flows, take them outside the city center. The opening is scheduled for August 15, 2022.
The design of the bridge is similar to the Russian Bridge in Vladivostok across the Eastern Bosphorus Strait.
Cherepovets is a major node in the infrastructure framework of the country, participating in the transport links of the northern and eastern regions of the Russian Federation with the southern and western. The city is located at the intersection of the federal highway A-114 "Vologda - Tikhvin" with direct access to the Leningrad region and St. Petersburg in the west. In the north and east is connected to the federal highway A-119 "Vologda - Medvezhjegorsk" and M-8 "Moscow - Arkhangelsk" with an exit to the Arkhangelsk region and the Republic of Karelia.
There is a direct transport connection with Moscow and the central regions of the country. At the same time one of the main constraints for the development of urban agglomerations today is the lag of transport infrastructure from the needs of residents and guests of the region and the requirements of modern business. Therefore, the construction of the second bridge is a key infrastructure project for Cherepovets urban agglomeration and its core - the city of Cherepovets. The existing Oktyabrsky bridge across the river Sheksna, opened in 1981, operates at the capacity limit, has a high degree of wear. It provides transport access to places of work for more than 50 thousand people.
Already in 2020 the peak hour load level of the bridge was exceeded almost twice. The new bridge must connect the two federal highways (M-8 to Moscow and A-114 to St. Petersburg), which "will reduce" the distance between the regions by 120 km. In addition, the Archangelsk bridge will complete the creation of the Cherepovets transport ring, linking the four major districts, will provide a public transport ring and take the transit out of the city center. With the commissioning of the bridge, the logistics of pendulum migration of the Cherepovets urban agglomeration will also change significantly, reducing the travel time of workers to the largest industrial enterprises - Severstal and PhosAgro. A significant part of them live in Zarechye and Zasheksninsky district. With the commissioning of the new bridge, there will be a new, more optimal route for them and all city residents.
