Trzebiatów is a town in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland, with a population of 10,119 (2016). Trzebiatów is located on the Rega River in northwestern Poland, about 9 km south of the Baltic Sea coast.
Trzebieatów received the rights of a town in 1277 under the rulers of Pomerania, who invited German settlers to settle in the area. It was part of the Duchy of Pomerania in the Holy Roman Empire. In 1416 the city became part of the Hanseatic League, then served as an important trading post and was architecturally developed with typical brick-gothic influences
It had trade links with larger Hanseatic cities such as Danzig (GdaĆsk), Lübeck and Hamburg. From 1648 the city was part of Brandenburg-Prussia, later the Kingdom of Prussia. After World War II, the city became part of Poland. The German population was expelled, and the city was settled by Poles. It escaped destruction during the war, and the preserved Old Town was listed as a protected historical monument in Poland.
