Webcam Cherepovets. Registry Office (Vologda region) online
Cherepovets is the largest city in the Vologda region (it is rare for a city that is not the region's capital to be larger than it is). Contrary to the opinion of many Russians, the Vologda region is not located in the south of Russia or somewhere "beyond the Urals. It is in the northwest of Russia, a stone's throw from St. Petersburg and not far from Moscow.
The above, of course, also applies to Cherepovets. Of course, Cherepovets is a provincial town (as, in fact, any other, except for the capital), but it is incorrect to associate it with some blind corner (as it is often done in some humorous programs).
The city stands on two rivers: Sheksna and Yagorba. Near Cherepovets is located Rybinsk Reservoir. The capital of the Vologda region is located 120 kilometers from Cherepovets (the cities are communicated by highway Vologda - Novaya Ladoga). The relationship between the cities is peculiar, filled with jokes and mythology about "slow" Vologda and "Cherepovets-which-has-no-breath" (a lot of factories).
This peculiar confrontation and mutual attraction has been going on ever since Cherepovets transformed from a small provincial town into an industrial giant in the 50s-70s of the last century.
