Online camera Vologda. Vologda River, view of the River Station
The Vologda is one of the largest rivers in northwest Russia, the right tributary of the Sukhona and a wonderful place for amateur anglers.
It stretches its meandering course for 155 km from west to east. The area of the basin is 3030 square kilometers.
The river originates in coniferous forests to the west of the city of Vologda, here the stream is very fast, and the channel is winding with small steep banks. One after another large tributaries flow into the Vologda - the Toshnya, the Sindosh, the Maslyanaya. Below the town of Vologda the river enters a marshy plain, the current in this area almost disappears.
The bottom is covered with a dense layer of bottom silt, so the depth almost everywhere does not exceed 1, 5 meters. The Vologda is navigable from the confluence of the Toshnya.
The freeze-up starts at the end of November when the first hard frosts come, and the spring flood begins in early April and lasts until early May.
The depth of the river at the confluence with the Sukhon reaches 3-4 meters, here you can find sterlet and trout, and by spinning you can catch large size bream and pike-perch.
