A webcam shows the panorama of Vigo in the province of Pontevedra in the Galicia region of Spain.
Vigo is an important and major port city and industrial center in northwestern Spain and is located on the Atlantic coast 30 kilometers north of the Portuguese border in the province of Pontevedra, part of the autonomous region of Galicia. There are more than 30 wide sandy beaches in and around the city, most of them located south of the historic city center.
Vigo is the largest city of the Galicia region and a popular resort, it is also a university city and a major educational center in Spain. The city was built in the second century BC by the Romans, but the historical sites of that period have not survived, as during the Middle Ages, Vigo was constantly attacked. The city was often completely destroyed as a result of the attacks.
