Neuquén is a city in Argentina, located on the drag between the Neuquén and Limay Rivers. It is the provincial capital and administrative center of the Department of Confluencia. The name of the City and Province, Neuquén, comes from the Araucan word Newenken, which means brave.
In the center of the city is the Spanish Cinema, the oldest movie theater in the city. Not far from the central park is a square (opposite the cathedral) where craft fairs are held.
There are many bars and restaurants in the center; at the airport there is Casino Magic.
The Limay River Resort is popular in the summer; it is located in the southern part of town. Next to the resort lies Island 132, where a chic waterfront has been built.
The city was founded in 1904.
