Bad Zwischenahn is a town and municipality in the lowland district of Ammerland in Lower Saxony, Germany.
The municipality of Bad Zwischenahn is located in the southeastern part of the Ammerland region. The main settlement, the town of Bad Zwischenahn, lies 17 km west of Oldenburg. It is 60 km from the North Sea and 80 km from the Dutch border.

The municipality of Bad Zwischenahn lies in the area of the North-Oldeburg-East Frisian Gesta. While the lowlands are filled with swamps, the sandy ridges of this geological formation are suitable for agricultural use.

In the center of the community is Lake Zwischenanow, which was called Elmendorf or Ammer Sea until the 19th century. The area of the lake is 5.5 sq. km. (550 ha), making it the third largest lake in Lower Saxony after Lake Steichudeude and Lake Dummer. The water surface is 5 m above the level of the North Sea. The lake was formed due to the collapse of salt deposits.

As a result of the many peat bogs in the vicinity, Bad Zwischenahn has long been renowned as a health resort, where its peat baths are used for the treatment of endocrine and vegetative circulatory disorders, following a method that was first proposed in the 16th century by the Swiss doctor Paracelsus (real name Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim). There are many sanatoria in the city.

The air itself, filled with the scents of the forest, and the delightful nature contribute to the healing process.
