Webcam Kurgan. Memorial complex to warriors of the Urals
The memorial complex to the soldiers from the Urals who died in local wars and military conflicts in the second half of the twentieth century in Kurgan is a monument to the courage and heroism of Russian soldiers and officers who gave their lives in foreign lands.
The complex includes a figure of a fallen, wounded soldier, an eternal flame and cast-iron plates with the names of 205 dead Trans-Ural soldiers and officers who performed their international duty in the areas of military conflicts of the second half of the last century.
The opening of the memorial took place on September 23, 2000. The authors - the sculptor V.A. Epishev and the architect V.M. Khoroshayev. The square where the memorial is located in front of the Central City Library named after Mayakovsky. V. Mayakovsky, on Proletarskaya Street.
In 2017, the memorial and the area of the square are closed for renovation. During the renovation in the square laid new paving tiles, made a special pedestal for military equipment: APCs and BMPs. Benches were installed, street lighting was replaced and a fountain was built in the square.
Also a playground was built near the public garden. The monument to soldiers-internationalists was also reconstructed. The grand opening of the square and the memorial after the reconstruction took place on October 30, 2018
