Kurgan is a city in Russia, the administrative center of Kurgan region. Founded in 1679 by the peasant Timothy Nevezhin; in 1782 by decree of Catherine the Great it received the status of a city, but the settlement in this place existed since 1553. It is located in South Trans-Urals, on the banks of Tobol (mainly on the left bank).

Marshal Golikov Avenue is one of the most important thoroughfares of Kurgan. The highway, more than 6 kilometers long, stretches from Burov-Petrov street to Mostostroiteley street and connects with the rest of the city Zaozerny residential area. On Golikov Avenue is located the Office of the traffic police of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kurgan region.
The avenue runs from the west of Mostostroiteley Street to the east.

On both sides of the street are most of the neighborhoods, which are divided into Zaozerny district - numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. It is the southern border of Ryabkovo district.
It is a highway with a dividing strip in the form of a wide lawn.
The name was assigned by decision of the Executive Committee of the Regional Council of People's Deputies on February 18, 1981 in honor of Marshal of the Soviet Union Philip Ivanovich Golikov.
