The beaches of Zelenogradsk are a great pride for city residents. In addition to the Baltic Sea, fine golden sand and bright sunshine, the benefits of which everyone knows, the coast of Zelenogradsk is famous for mud treatment, which has been developing for several centuries. When it was proved that sea air, sun and mud baths had a more favorable effect on the body than bloodletting and medicines, development of the town as a resort went uphill. Guests from all over Europe started coming here to improve their health.
It is believed that Zelenogradsk is the oldest resort town on the Baltic Sea coast. In the XIII century it was a small fishing village of Krantz. Initially a small number of people came to Krantz, namely those who knew about the place. Since the late nineteenth century, the village was declared a Royal Spa, and the railroad tracks were established.
From that moment the influx of people increased with each summer season. Today Zelenogradsk is a resort town with wide beaches, clean Baltic Sea, fresh air and well-developed health centers. The basis of sanatoriums is mud treatment, which benefits people with diseases of the cardiovascular system, musculoskeletal system, respiratory organs, gynecological diseases, as well as respiratory system diseases.
