Bratsk is a city in the Russian Federation, a district center in the Irkutsk region, located in the central part of the Angarsky ridge, on the banks of the Bratsk reservoir, 490 km north of Irkutsk. Bratsk was founded in 1955. Main branches of industry: hydropower (a complex of enterprises "Bratskgesstroy"), timber and woodworking (JSC "Bratskkomplexholding"). Plants: aluminium, "Sibteplomash". Enterprises of food industry (meat-preserving factory, dairy plant, poultry plant, brewery etc.). It sprang up owing to construction Bratsk hydro-power station north to Bratsk settlement (it was founded as stockaded town in 1631 in the mouth of Oka r.) flooded by waters of Bratsk reservoir.
The permanent population of the city is more than 250 thousand people. Bratsk is a relatively young city, with children under 16 years old accounting for about 18%. The average age of the city's residents is 36 years old.
The potential of the city is provided by the stable work of large industrial enterprises, as well as medium and small businesses. Stabilization of investment activity is observed in the city.
