Ozersk - a city, closed administrative-territorial formation in the Chelyabinsk region of Russia. Administrative center of Ozersk urban district. The population is 78,440 (2020).
On March 17, 1954 by the closed Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR the settlement of the Mendeleev Chemical Plant (later PA "Mayak") was given the status of a town.
It was the pioneer of nuclear industry, because it was here that the plutonium charge for the first atomic bomb was created. The city is surrounded on all sides by lakes Irtayash, Kyzyltash, Malaya and Bolshaya Nanoga, which gave it its name.
