Weggis is located in central Switzerland at an altitude of 430 meters above sea level, on the shore of Lake Lucerne. Its central location in the heart of Switzerland makes it an ideal starting point for excursions to the Alps, Lucerne, Zurich and Bern.
Lake Vierwaldstet (Lake of Lucerne) is a lake in central Switzerland. The name is due to the fact that in the past there were four cantons on the shores of the lake: Uri, Schwyz, Unterwalden and Lucerne. Later, the canton of Unterwalden was divided into two semi-cantons (Obwalden and Nidwalden), but the name of the lake did not change.
The famous Pilat and Rigi Mountains are located near the shores of the lake. The lake consists of four pools connected by narrow straits. The basin of the lake was formed by ancient glaciers that descended from the mountains.
