Webcam Ischgl Ski Resort (Austria) in real time
Ischgl ski resort is located in western Austria, on the border with Switzerland, and belongs to the fashionable and expensive resorts. Ischgl is characterized by long season (late November - early May), a lot of sunny days and unique underground escalators. The resort is focused on experienced skiers. There is a mogul track and off-piste skiing area.
A small village Ischgl (Ischgl, 1300 inhabitants) began to develop as a resort in the 1960s. Its popularity contribute to, on the one hand, the proximity to the "ski arena" Silvretta, on the other - the proximity to the duty-free zone of Zamnaund in Switzerland. Ischgl and Saumnaun form a single skiing region at an altitude of up to 2872 m. Ischgl is located at the bottom of a narrow ravine. Being there, it's hard to imagine that 500-1000 m higher there are treeless slopes, wide valleys, leading to distant passes and a mountain panorama.
The main lines of elevators diverge from the station "Idalp", and many tourists are going straight to the pass of Id-Yoh (2760 m), that is, the Swiss border. From the station "Hollenkar" and then "Palinkopf" you can also get to Switzerland, but here are more interesting steep slopes in the valley Fimbatal.
Difficult slopes in Ischgl are few. Experienced skiers are attracted by "Pardatschgrad-Nord" (1600 m, height difference of 1200 m). The longest track goes from the top of Palinkopf (2864 m) to Ischgl (of medium complexity, 9000 m, elevation difference 1500 m). The slopes of the region are mostly perfectly prepared, but also thrill-seekers will find suitable slopes for themselves.
Among the advantages of Ischgl resort there is also a big number of elevators: when there is no more snow below, the snow-covered slopes are not difficult to access. To the new line "Silvretta-bahn" from the center of the village you can go through a tunnel, which is very convenient.
The village of Ischgl has changed and grown in recent decades, joining the neighboring Maton (4 km). In the center, where traffic is prohibited - a beautiful church and a few old houses. The rest of the development are hotels and pensions.
To relax after skiing or to spend time in bad weather here is customary in the complex Silvretta-Center. Hiking, horse-drawn sleigh rides and quad biking tours are also on the agenda.
