Nelidovo is a town (since 1949) in Russia, the administrative center of Nelidovo district (urban district) of Tver region. Population - 17,639 (2021).

The town is situated in the western part of the region, 230 km south-west of Tver, 326 km from Moscow. Located on the Mezha River, at the confluence of the Semikovka River. Railway station on the line "Moscow - Velikie Looki". October railroad. Highway "M9 Baltia" passes 2 kilometers from the town, and through the town - highway R136 to the town of Bely.

The first settlements on the outskirts of the city date back to the Mesolithic and Neolithic. It was at that time that human settlement began on the Mezha riverbank. In the XII century the territory, on which the city is situated now, was part of the Smolensk principality. During the period of feudal fragmentation the lands passed to the Principality of Toropets. In the middle of the XIV century the lands were seized by Lithuanian princes.

Under the 1449 treaty the border between Russia and Lithuania passed along the Mezha river. The territory of the future city was still subjected to the Lithuanian princes.
In 1936, near the railroad station Nelidovo, specialists from the Leningrad Geological Survey Department began prospecting for minerals. In 1940 a pilot mine was laid. Intensive development of coal mines began only in the early 50's. For many years the coal enterprises were successfully operated.
