Rimini is a famous Italian resort on the Adriatic coast. From June to September, the beaches near Rimini are filled with sun umbrellas as thousands of sun and water lovers flock to its shores. And in the evenings they seek entertainment and head to the countless clubs, restaurants and bars along the promenade.

Rimini has always been an eventful place. As early as 268 B.C. the Romans founded the city of Ariminum on the southeastern tip of the Padana valley, an important transport hub. The city flourished from 1295 to 1503 under the rule of a noble Roman noble. - It was ruled by a noble Roman family, the Malatesta, whose representatives were famous for their cruelty and shamelessness, but also for their education and love of the arts - many guest artists worked at their court. But Gianni and Sigismondo Malatesta were particularly notorious.

The first had his wife and brother murdered by order - the great Dante immortalized them in the Divine Comedy as Paolo and Francesca. The other, Sigismondo, rejected his first wife, poisoned the second, and strangled the third so that he could eventually marry his old sweetheart. The sale of coastal land began in 1848, when a shrewd businessman opened the first public bathing house here. After World War II, many people flocked here.

The most famous native of the town is the film director Federico Fellini (1920-1993), who loved it very much and spent every summer in Rimini. His grave is in the cemetery near Rivabella.
