Middelkerke is a popular Belgian resort located on the North Sea coast in the province of West Flanders, 9 km southwest of Ostend.
The main attraction of Middelkerke is a wide and long sandy beach, which at low tide becomes even bigger. Surfing and diving are popular here, and in the town itself you can see the neo-Gothic Sint-Willibrorduskerk Parish Church (19th century) and the Art Deco Sint-Theresiakapel (1933).
For children, Middelkerk has an amusement park and a dinosaur park, and around the resort there are three nature reserves, where you can see unique birds that only inhabit this area.
