Dicky Beach is a coastal suburb on the Coral Sea in the Caloundra region of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. According to the 2016 census, Dicky Beach has a population of 1,895.
The area was named for the iron steamer, the SS Dicky (226 gross tons), which ran aground during high tide on February 12, 1893. It was taken off the shoal, but again a violent swell overturned the ship and returned it to the sand, where it remained. Dickey Beach remains the only vacation beach in the world named for the shipwreck.
The ship was used as a place to dance until a kerosene lamp overturned and burned the ship.
In April 1963, the propeller was removed by Landsborough County Council for use on a memorial stone pyramid, along with a plaque provided by the Queensland Women's Historical Association.
