Lake Garda is located in northern Italy, at the foot of the Alpine mountain ranges. It is the largest freshwater body of water in the country, with an area of 370 km². The lake, about halfway between Venice and Milan, is bordered by the territories of three Italian provinces, but the inhabitants of the lakeside towns and villages are united in a special informal community of Garda.
