Pecatu webcam. Padang Padang Beach (Bali, Indonesia)
Padang-Padang Beach is located in the southwest of Bukit Peninsula, at Ungasan Village, Pekatu District, 28 kilometers from Denpasar. It is surrounded by limestone cliffs in which a cave is hollowed out leading to the coast. It is one of the few beaches in the south of the island where you can swim and surf.
Padang Padang Beach is a small piece of coastline just over 100 meters long. Locals call it Pantai Labuan Sait. For a long time almost no one knew about this place, except the population of neighboring villages. Occasionally surfers or curious travelers would come here.
Since the '90s, photographers and filmmakers have noticed the beauty of the hidden coast in the middle of the rocks. In 1996 the Danish rock-pop group Michael Learns To Rock, singing in English, shot a video there. The musicians at one time were very popular in Asia. In 1998, American director Zalman King released a film about surfers called In God's Hands. Some episodes of the film were filmed on this beach.
But Padang Padang really took off in 2010 with Eat, Pray, Love directed by Ryan Murphy and starring Julia Roberts. Romantic love scenes on the beach fascinated many viewers, so fans of the film began to arrive in Bali. Information about the beautiful place quickly spread and Padang Padang became one of the most visited places on Bukit.
But if ordinary holidaymakers learned about the beach recently, the professional surfers he was known long before that. Like many other surf spots, it was first discovered by Australians in the second half of XX century. Since 2004, in July and early August on the beach is held championship Rip Curl Padang Padang. This international competition is the most prestigious in Indonesia and one of the most popular among surfers around the world.
It would seem that for such a championship in Bali you could find more spacious coastline. But it is here, at some distance from the shore, a special kind of wave is formed - the tube. When the peak of the waves refracts, a peculiar cylinder is formed, and you can ride a board on both the outer and inner surface of it. This is a complex and one of the most beautiful elements in surfing, available only to professionals. It is photos of riding in the tube most often found on the Internet.
Interestingly, the waves of this beach are called the "Bali Pipeline". They are rightfully considered the best on the island and in the whole of Indonesia. A similar type of waves, called Pipeline, is found in Hawaii.
The coastline is located at the foot of a cliff, furnished on all sides with restaurants and hotels. From the road above, the beach is virtually invisible and easy to pass. There are two roads leading down. One of them is a narrow staircase with 50 steps. The stairs are quite steep and slippery, so you have to walk very carefully. The second road to the shore goes through the cave. It is so narrow that two people can not go through it at the same time. At a time when the beach receives the most tourists (mostly close to lunch or before sunset), there is a queue on the way down.
The beach itself resembles a cozy bay, surrounded on all sides by white limestone rocks, in which there are several small caves. The sand on the shore is white, coarse and quite coarse texture. The waves are low and have a beautiful turquoise hue.
On the right side of the beach there are large black boulders, covered with green moss. They contrast with the white sand and blue water, giving the surrounding landscape a special charm. The place looks best at sunset and sunrise. The sea and the rocks shimmer in all their colors, reflecting the red rays of the sun that bends over the horizon.
