Büzum is a small old port and resort town located on the North Sea coast. It has a population of almost 5,000 people and is one of the oldest and most popular northern seaside resorts in the country.
Tourists are attracted here by the fine sandy beaches, clean sea air, and amazing and very interesting annual festivals of crabbing and fishing. It is also worth mentioning the sailing competitions that have been held here for more than a century.
The first documented mention of Buzum (as an island) dates back to 1140. The name of the island in medieval documents changed several times from the original Bivsne (1140) to Busin (1208), Buzen (1281), and Buzen (1447). The medieval history of Buzum is documented in the chronicles of Neocor (Johannes Adolphus Kester), a pastor and teacher of Buzum in the 16th century.
