Palomar Observatory is a private observatory in San Diego County, California, 145 kilometers southeast of Mount Wilson Observatory, on Mount Palomar. It is owned and operated by the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). The observatory itself currently consists of four main instruments: a 200-inch (5.08 m) Hale Telescope, 48-inch (1.22 m) The Samuel Oshin Telescope, the 18-inch Schmidt Telescope, and the 60-inch reflector telescope. The Palomar Interferometer is also located here.
